Misty – 2018

Brad Mehldau

One of today’s top pianists comes up with fresh ideas on an old favorite

Brad Mehldau has been one of the most significant jazz pianists since the early 1990s, whether leading his trio, playing unaccompanied solos or collaborating with other artists.

It is often enlightening to hear a modern jazz artist interpret an older standard.

From a Paris concert that took place on April 2, 2018, Mehldau plays a quiet and subtle version of Erroll Garner’s “Misty,” reharmonizing the song and filling his rendition with relaxed and thoughtful but creative variations.
