Valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer and guitarist John Scofield never recorded together but they did appeared on a Dutch television show.

Brookmeyer (1929-2011) was the master of the valve trombone, developing his own cool jazz style in the 1950s in a career that included associations with Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, the Jimmy Giuffre 3, and Clark Terry.

He also had a second career as an adventurous arranger-composer and an educator.

John Scofield (1951- ) has had a distinctive sound on the guitar since the 1970s and, while he has often appeared in funky or slightly rockish settings, he has always been flexible and enthusiastic about collaborating with older artists.

Brookmeyer is mostly in the lead during his tasteful duet with Scofield on “Moonlight In Vermont”; it is a pity that they did not cross paths often through the years.
