Ahmad Jamal has been a major pianist in the jazz world since the early 1950s, always going his own way musically.

His “less is more” approach, which makes dramatic use of silence and sound while generally staying melodic, always appealed to Miles Davis and to a large audience.

From a 2013 concert at Lincoln Center, the pianist is joined by bassist Reginald Veal, drummer Herlin Riley, and percussionist Manolo Badrena for a rhythmically infectious version of “Saturday Morning.”
