Salsa, Latin jazz, Nuyorican Soul…it all runs together in the work of pianist and bandleader Eddie Palmieri.

At the 5:00 minute mark Palmieri takes flight. The trumpet player takes his solo at 8:40.

This is improvisational music that loves the lyric, the dance, and the drums.

Born to Puerto Rican parents in the South Bronx in 1936, Palmieri was immersed in jazz as a youngster and his heroes and found his career is salsa, a music that loves tight, hot brass and complex interwoven rhythms.
