Pianist Alan Bartus, who is from Switzerland and grew up in Austria, has toured with tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi and in 2022 recorded his debut album as a leader: “Born In Millennium.”
Bartus’ excellent playing serves as evidence of two facts: there is a great deal of jazz talent to be found overseas, and there are countless numbers of inventive young musicians who are just beginning to make an impact on the current jazz scene.
On Charlie Parker’s “Scrapple From The Apple,” Alan Bartus is joined by bassist Stefan Pista Bartus (his father) and drummer David Hodek.
