Dave Liebman, who worked early on with Elvin Jones and Miles Davis, has been a major improviser on soprano, tenor and flute since the early 1970s.

Marc Copland, who started out as a saxophonist, has been an important pianist since the mid-1980s whether playing standards (he toured with James Moody for three years) or his own melodic but quietly adventurous originals.

For this improvisation from 2018, Liebman on soprano is in the lead throughout with Copland’s accompaniment clearly inspiring his fresh ideas.
