Ever since being championed by Wynton Marsalis in the mid-1980s when he became a member of the trumpeter’s group, Marcus Roberts has been a significant jazz pianist, one who infuses his solos with the influence of early piano masters yet always sounds like himself.

For this version of “The Way You Look Tonight,” Roberts is joined by bassist Rodney Jordan and drummer Jason Marsalis; they take the 1930s song into some surprising directions.
