A major tenor-saxophonist since at least the mid-1980s, Joe Lovano led 25 albums for the Blue Note label during 1991-2016 and has been heard on a countless number of other recordings as both a leader and a sideman.

His appearance at the 1994 Montreux Jazz Festival included this version of “Portrait Of Jenny” which he performed with pianist Kenny Werner, bassist Scott Lee, and drummer Jeff Williams.

Lovano (who tops off the performance with an impressive cadenza) and Werner both take outstanding solos.
