Live from Sista’s Place, Brooklyn: A Saxophone Solo to Remember
This captivating saxophone solo was recorded during a live concert at Sista’s Place in Brooklyn, New York, precisely on April 8, 2000.
The immensely talented multi-instrumentalist and composer, Ken McIntyre, often used this soulful saxophone performance as a warm and inviting introduction to kickstart his shows.
Interestingly, in the early 1990s, Ken McIntyre underwent a significant transformation, adopting the name “Makanda Ken McIntyre.” Legend has it that during a tour in Zimbabwe, a stranger handed him a piece of paper bearing the word “MAKANDA.” In African dialects, “Makanda” translates to “many skins” or “many heads.”
