Lucky Thompson had an up-and-down career filled with accomplishments along with some periods in which he was rarely on records.
His visits to France during the late 1950s/early ‘60s found him in prime form and often leading groups in Paris night clubs.
Thompson appeared on French television on a few occasions in 1960 including an appearance at the Club Saint Germaine with a medium-size combo.
For a version of his original “Why Weep,” Lucky Thompson is showcased in a trio with bassist Pierre Michelot and Kenny Clarke.
