Wayne Shorter wrote many of his finest compositions in the 1960s, pieces that (like his saxophone playing) followed their own logic, creating a fresh new world of music.
In 2015 when he was 81, Shorter performed a few special concerts of his music with Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra.
On this live performance which has some outstanding ensemble work, Shorter on tenor makes two statements, trumpeter Marsalis takes a blazing solo, and pianist Dan Zimmer also has a spot.
