A prominent pianist since the early 1990s, Bill Charlap has consistently delivered inventive yet tastefully swinging renditions of tunes from the Great American Songbook, breathing new life into vintage material.
In this performance captured at the Jazz Cat Club in Ascona, Switzerland in 2022, Charlap teams up with bassist David Wong and drummer Carl Allen for a rendition of “Yesterdays,” a song that has challenged jazz artists since the 1940s.
Charlap infuses the performance with fresh variations, offering a relaxed yet creative interpretation, while receiving subtle yet stimulating support from Wong and Allen.
