Florida native Sam Jones was a double bass legend who played with Oscar Peterson regularly throughout the late ’60s. Though their studio collaboration went back earlier than that. Their work together would mark one of the longest-lasting relationships in jazz history.

Jones would play with Bobby Timmons, Kenny Burrell, Thelonious Monk, Cedar Walton, Dizzy Gillespie, and Cannonball Adderley. A duet with guitar great Joe Pass receives particularly strong praise from critics.

Personnel:

Oscar Peterson, piano
Sam Jones, bass
