Penned and published in 1940 by Nacio Herb Brown, “You Stepped Out of a Dream” has since evolved into a jazz standard. The song became linked to silver screen icon Lana Turner during the ’40s when Tony Martin performed it in “Ziegfeld Girl.”

The track has been reinterpreted by a plethora of artists including Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass, Ella Fitzgerald, Gary Burton, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Cedar Walton, Sarah Vaughan, McCoy Tyner, Archie Shepp, George Shearing, and Nat King Cole.
