Hip Linkchain

‘Hipstick’

Hip Linkchain (guitar & vocals) performs at the Artesian Lounge in Chicago during the late 1980s.

Inspired by the delta blues of his native Mississippi Willie Richard would quickly immersed himself in Chicago’s thriving blues scene shortly after moving to the city in 1954. His stage name “Hip Linkchain” was manufactured by combining ‘Linkchain’ the nickname of his stepfather and his own childhood pet name ‘Hipstick.’ He recorded a number of singles in the 1960s ,but his first full length album wasn’t until 1983. He performed with blues greats including Pinetop Perkins, Little Walter, and Lester Davenport.
