Rolling Stone (Parts 1 & 2)

Robert Wilkins

“Original Rollin’ Stone”

Robert Wilkins (guitar & vocals) produced these recordings at his very first session in Memphis, Tennessee on September 7, 1928.

Rolling stone Robert Wilkins rolled and roamed through Memphis, Mississippi, and Arkansas before setting to gather moss as an ordained minister sometime during the early ’40s. Following his 1960s rediscovery in Memphis by Dick Spottswood, Wilkins was an active participant in the 1964 Newport Folk Festival and recorded his gospel blues for Vanguard Records.
