Sonny Terry (harmonica & vocals), and Brownie McGhee (guitar & vocals) are featured at the 1967 American Folk Blues Festival.
Both Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry became an overnight success when they first teamed up in New York in 1942. The pair had been acquainted since the late 30s when Terry was Blind Boy Fuller’s harmonica player and the young McGhee was learning all he could from the elder bluesman.
For a brief period after Fuller’s death in 1941 J. B. Long of Columbia Records had billed Brownie as ‘Blind Boy Fuller No. 2’ on some of his Chicago Okeh releases in a effort to replace the deceased hit maker.
