This is a performance of Thelonious Monk’s “Ask Me Now,” off of the album “Solo Monk.”
Joe Henderson, a tenor saxophonist, leads the trio, in the rendition. Meanwhile Englishman Dave Holland is joining him on bass, their having recorded the album “The New Standard” the previous year. Versatile drummer Al Foster is notable for having played with Miles Davis during the latter’s pre- and post-funk periods.
