During 1961-72, the big band co-led by pianist-arranger Francy Boland and drummer Kenny Clarke was one of the top jazz orchestras of the era.

Based in Europe and comprised of all-stars from both Europe and the United States, the big band was particularly notable for having two hard-driving drummers in Kenny Clarke and Kenny Clare.

This excellent performance from the mid-1960s has the band swinging through a uptempo blues with solos by trumpeter Idrees Sulieman, pianist Boland, altoist Derek Humble, trumpeter Jimmy Deuchar, trombonist Ake Persson (who takes honors) and baritonist Sahib Shihab, with the ensembles driven by the two drummers.
