Composed in 1940 by Duke Ellington, “Cotton Tail” gets rhythm from “I Got Rhythm,” by George Gershwin.

Benny Green, formerly of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, started out in Betty Carter’s band in the early ’80s. He has since become a teacher.

Bassist Raymond Brown has collaborated with such greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson.
