In April 1983 Gil Evans’ Orchestra secured a booking in Greenwich Village with, Sweet Basil jazz club owner, Horst Liepolt.

It would become their regular Monday night engagement for nearly five years.

Gil Evans and the “Monday Night Orchestra” released a string of successful albums produced by Liepolt.

Evans’ band featured top New York musicians, many were members of the “Saturday Night Live Band.”
