Barney Kessel (1923-2004) was one of the top guitarists to emerge during the late 1940s/50s.

While he is best known as a jazz player inspired by Charlie Christian, Kessel was also a versatile studio musician who was on a countless number of sessions during his 45-year period.

This hour-long film, probably dating from the late 1960s, will be considered a treasure by guitarists for it is a very informative lesson by the personable Kessel that is filled with valuable tips.

Barney Kessel shares a lifetime of experiences, showing young guitarists how to develop the ability to play what they hear, to swing, and to be themselves in the music.
