This jam session with Lionel Hampton and his band is taken from “The Rhythm and Blues Revue,” a musical variety film made at Apollo Theater in Harlem. It featured comedic acts, as well as prominent African-American dancers. Nat King Cole and Cab Calloway would also make appearances at this performance.
