Written in 1963 by Miles Davis and pianist Victor Feldman, “Joshua” has since become a jazz standard. It was first featured on the album Seven Steps to Heaven and would subsequently be covered by Joe Henderson and Ben Webster.

Featured here is Miles Davis’ “Second Great Quintet.” Lasting from 1964 to 1968, the group is undeniably one of jazz’s most inventive and influential small combos.
