The Charles Mingus Sextet performed at three separate European concerts in April 1964.

After a live recording session in mid-March and early April of 1964, Charles Mingus embarked on a European tour.

Dolphy, who had planned to stay in Europe with his fiancée, tragically died as a result of an undiagnosed medical condition on June 29, 1964.
