Sonny Rollins performs a set at the 1971 Kongsberg Jazz Festival in Norway.
This performance marked Rollins’ return from his second two-year sabbatical. Unlike his first hiatus, which he devoted to daily practice on New York City’s Williamsburg Bridge, Rollins travelled to Jamaica and Mumbai to explore different cultures and spiritualities.
Personnel:
Sonny Rollins – tenor sax
Bobo Stenson – piano
Arild Andersen – bass
Jon Christensen – drums
