In this film clip recorded in a little restaurant in Amersfoort, Holland in 1959 by the KRO broadcasting company, Rahsaan Roland Kirk performs “Lover Man” with the trio of Swiss pianist George Gruntz.

Written in 1941 by Jimmy Davis, James Sherman and Roger Ramirez, “Lover Man” has since entered the Grammy Hall of Fame. It’s popularly connected to Billie Holiday’s career.
