Whenever Louis Armstrong appeared on stage with an equally famous performer, his humor, personality and pure musicianship usually ended up with him emerging as the star.

A television special from 1957, the Edsel Show, found him matching wits with both Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.

First he performs “Now You Has Jazz” with Crosby which they had recently filmed as part of the movie High Society; Bing has a good time interacting with Armstrong’s All-Stars.

Then, in one of the very few times that they appeared together, Armstrong joins Frank Sinatra on “Birth Of The Blues.”

The excerpts from the show conclude with a brief curtain call on “On The Sunny Side Of The Street.”
