Roxy Coss took piano lessons when she was six, started playing tenor when she was nine, made her recording debut as a leader in 2010, and has since led five albums.

A longtime fixture on the New York jazz scene, she worked with Clark Terry, Louis Hayes, Claudio Roditi, Jeremy Pelt (2012-2104) and Diva in addition to appearing with many other top jazz artists.

Filmed at her recording session for her fifth album, Roxy Coss performs “Don’t Cross The Coss,” a tongue-twister of a melody that she plays with guitarist Alex Wintz, keyboardist Miki Yamanaka, bassist Rick Rosato, and drummer Jimmy Macbride.

On this driving and straight-ahead performance (which has fine guitar and keyboard solos), Roxy Coss makes the case for being considered one of the top tenors on the scene today.
