Los Angeles native Arthur Blythe is a alto sax player of the post-bop genre notable for his love of vibrato. He has collaborated with jazz great McCoy Tyner.

Tuba player Bob Stewart has played with Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus and Wynton Marsalis.

Drummer and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Cecil Brooks has collaborated with Etta Jones.
