Trumpeter, flugelhorn player and composer Randy Brecker was born on November 27, 1945 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.

Randy is the brother of the late Michael Brecker, an immensely accomplished saxophonist with whom he collaborated frequently.

Randy has applied his top-notch trumpet playing to a variety of settings: Horace Silver’s quintet, the fusion group Dreams, jazz-funk band The Brecker Brothers, and a wide assortment of other projects.

“On Green Dolphin Street” is best known Among jazz fans for Miles Davis’ classic recording.

The song, written in 1947 by Polish composer Bronisław Kaper, has been recorded by Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans, Eric Dolphy, and more.

Randy Brecker joins fellow trumpeter Ventzislav Blagoev at the 2009 Plovdiv Jazz Nights festival in Bulgaria.
