A lyrical cornetist with his own sound, Ruby Braff usually took conversational solos that often found him alternating between his middle and lower register.

At the 1990 Newport Jazz Festival, Braff was one of the featured guests presented by Wynton Marsalis.

His performance of “Pennies From Heaven” also has a chorus by guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli and a tradeoff with pianist Eric Reed but is most notable for Braff’s very personal style of playing.
