Some Of These Days
Cab Calloway
A brief but exciting performance from 1937
Cab Calloway was one of jazz’s great showmen.
His lovable personality, crazy conducting, and frequently manic performances overshadowed the fact that he had a great swing orchestra and was a top-notch singer.
This is a brief but remarkable performance of “Some Of These Days” featuring some rare early jazz flute playing by Walter Thomas (normally a tenor-saxophonist), trombonist DePriest Wheeler, and clarinetist Andy Brown in addition to Cab’s scatting.
