A major swing stylist on the tenor saxophone ever since his emergence in the mid-1970s, Scott Hamilton has been very consistent throughout his career, sticking to the vintage music that he loves best and always displaying a large and distinctive tone along with impeccable taste.

Hamilton recorded three albums with British pianist Brian Lemon and bassist Dave Green (plus drummer Allan Ganley) during 1994-95.

This warm version of “Tenderly,” which has Hamilton joined by Lemon, Green, and drummer Steve Brown in 2000, shows how masterful the tenor has always been at interpreting a classic ballad, taking his time and letting the music speak for itself. The pianist also makes a tasteful statement during his half-chorus.
