While Jason Marsalis was originally known as the youngest of the four Marsalis brothers and a fine drummer, he has during the past decade found his niche as a fluent vibraphonist who builds upon the legacy of Milt Jackson.
Marsalis has developed his own approach to playing modern mainstream jazz, sometimes displaying his roots in New Orleans music while also creating forward-looking music.
Joined by pianist Austin Johnson (who takes a particularly strong solo), bassist Will Goble, and drummer David Potter, Marsalis is featured on a complex but swinging original that will keep one guessing.
