Filmmaker Jim Gabour captured it and it was broadcast on Cox Cable, the local New Orleans cable provider.
It was the last recorded performance of James Booker. Ten days later he was dead.
Harry Connick J and Dr. John both acknowledge Booker’s contribution to their understanding of the piano.
Lily Keber recently released a film about Booker called “Bayou Maharajah: The Tragic Genius of James Booker” and it’s received critical acclaim both in and outside of New Orleans.
