When it comes to playing trumpet in a sound reminiscent of Clifford Brown and swinging on hard bop tunes, few are on Terell Stafford’s level.
In addition to his playing, Stafford has long been an important force in the Temple University jazz program.
Playing a slow ballad is a real art form; on this version of “The Nearness Of You,” Stafford (at the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival) shows that he has long mastered that skill.
