During the holiday season, we’re screening some of our favorite documentaries.

Many of them come from the pre-Internet golden age of VHS when money was available for making quality documentaries about jazz history.

Here’s one on Fats Waller, a phenomenal pianist, songwriter, and bandleader whose comic facade may fool some superficial folks who don’t know to look beneath the surface.

Great portrayal of what “the scene” in New York was like starting when he was a kid (pre-1920) and through the ’40s.
