Nina Simone (1933-2003) could perform swinging jazz, folk, blues, soul, rock, funk and protest songs with equal passion and credibility.
In this rare (and early) color film clip from Berlin in 1967, she sings a low-down blues while accompanied by German musicians.
Looking great and sounding right in her prime, Ms. Simone walks around the large stage while singing (both her lyrics and wordlessly), taking over the piano halfway through.
All in all, this is a riveting performance.
