It Hurts Me Too
Tampa Red
Chicago slide
Recorded in Chicago in 1940 featuring Tampa Red (guitar, vocals, & kazoo), and Black Bob (piano).
Hudson Woodbridge was born in Georgia and sent to live in Tampa, Florida with his aunt and uncle after the death of his parents adopting their surname Whittaker. He moved to Chicago in the early ’20s where he became well known for his fluid slide playing on a steel bodied ‘National’ resonator guitar, as Tampa Red. His clean style would prove to inspire latter-day electric slide players. Hudson recorded prolifically for the next two decades, during which he was the author of a number of standards including “It Hurts Me Too”.
