I’m Confessin’ That I Love You – 2023

Mar Vilaseca and Luca Filastro

A relaxed version with guitarist Yotam Silberstein

All styles of jazz are still being played on a creative level these days.

Mar Vilaseca, a young and pleasing singer from Italy, does a fine job on the early 1930s standard “I’m Confessin’ That I Love You.”

Although this performance is taken from one of pianist Emmet Cohen’s podcasts, for this song he cedes the piano chair to Luca Filastro, a superior stride and swing pianist who is also from Italy.

With guitarist Yotam Silberstein (who takes s fine solo), bassist Russell Hall, and drummer Winard Harper, the group performs a relaxed and restrained version of the vintage tune.
