Nikki Yanofsky, who was born in 1994, is from Montreal, performed her own set at the 2006 Montreal International Jazz Festival when she was 12 and made her recording debut the following year.
A superior bop and swing singer who has also performed more modern material, she has lived up to her potential and is particularly well-known in Canada.
Her version of “Air Mail Special,” which is influenced by Ella Fitzgerald’s, is from the 2011 Montreux Jazz Festival and was performed with Quincy Jones’ Global Gumbo All-Stars; she was 17 at the time.
