In 2010 at Jazz a Vienne, six masterful trumpeters all had chances to solo on “Honeysuckle Rose.”
Roy Hargrove, Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Lew Soloff, Terence Blanchard, and Terell Stafford each have solos and there is some humorous interplay along the way, with Soloff emulating Faddis’ high notes during his spot.
In addition there are solos from pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Doug Weiss, and drummer Idris Muhammad.
While this performance could have been much longer, it gives viewers and opportunities to see a lot of jazz greats in a short period of time.
