On the Ginza

Art Blakey

London, 1965

Composed by saxophonist Wayne Shorter, “On the Ginza” made its first appearance on an album by Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers called “Ugetsu.” As the Messengers’ Japanese tour had just ended, two tracks’ names were derived from Japan: “Ugetsu” and “On the Ginza.”
