Wes Montgomery (1923-68) did not live long but luckily there are some rewarding films of the great and influential guitarist.
He was at the height of his powers in 1965 when he toured Europe.
Montgomery is featured in top form, jamming “The End Of A Love Affair” with pianist Pim Jacobs, bassist Ruud Jacobs, and drummer Han Bennink.
What is remarkable about this performance is that the guitarist was filmed just moments before (that part of the film is available on You Tube) teaching the pianist the song; the results sound like a regularly working group.
