Keith Jarrett formed his trio with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette in 1983.

The group lasted on a part-time basis for 31 years, not disbanding until the end of 2014.

Nicknamed “the Standards Trio,” the unit gave Jarrett an opportunity to perform many of his favorite songs from the past, contrasting with his solo concerts which were generally free improvisations.
